We have been providing development services to many customers for the past three years using Texas Instruments Low Power RF and Zigbee Devices.    This group of devices is a great solution when a custom radio is required.   Texas Instruments does a great job in providing some top quality parts.

Many of these radio devices operate within the 2.4 Ghz to 2.483 Ghz ISM band, which provide for some technical challenges as within this microwave band are many other interfering signals like Bluetooth, WiFi, cordless phones, and microwave ovens.  There are some design considerations that must be overcome when developing a microwave radio.  Special attention must be given to the schematic and the PCB layout as the performance of the radio is directly related to the design and tuning of the RF components.
